The donation ceremony, held at Gwangju Bank’s headquarters on this day, was attended by Gwangju Bank President Ko Byungil, Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Director Byun Jeonggeun, and other officials.
The "Hope Blossoms Volunteer Group" is Gwangju Bank’s flagship social contribution program, which has been operated since 2023. The program selects 30 college students from underprivileged backgrounds in the region and supports them in volunteering as after-school tutors at local children's centers.
Each participating college student receives a monthly scholarship of 1 million KRW, which helps alleviate their tuition burden and provides them with meaningful extracurricular experience. In addition, the program makes a tangible contribution to addressing staff shortages at local children's centers. As a result, it is recognized as a "coexistence-type social contribution" that reflects both the bank’s commitment to social value and the needs of the community.
Furthermore, among those who faithfully complete the volunteer program, 20 graduates will be selected to receive a total of four financial education sessions and three one-on-one asset management consulting sessions. Through these efforts, the bank plans to continue providing systematic support to enhance college students’ financial capabilities and promote their economic independence.
Gwangju Bank and the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation plan to continue their cooperation to provide a stepping stone toward the dreams of local college students and extend a helping hand to local children, thereby spreading positive influence throughout the community.
