View original imageOn the morning of July 29, the Jeju Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Park Sangchun) urgently transported a patient experiencing chest pain from Hallasan Mountain to a major hospital by helicopter.
At approximately 7:59 a.m. that day, a report was received via the fire authorities at the Jeju Coast Guard situation room that a man in his 60s was experiencing chest pain near Seongpanak, Hallasan Mountain, and required emergency evacuation.
At the time of the incident, the fire department helicopter was undergoing maintenance, and the doctor helicopter was not equipped with a hoist (lifting device) to bring up the patient, making it impossible to transport the emergency patient. The Jeju Coast Guard immediately dispatched a helicopter, used a hoist to lift the patient who was waiting at the Sogbal shelter on Hallasan Mountain, and transferred him to a nearby major hospital at 8:51 a.m.
It is reported that the man developed chest pain while climbing the mountain to work at the helicopter mooring site, and a passing hiker discovered him and reported the incident.
