LG Electronics Collects 108 Tons of Used Batteries Over 4 Years With 140,000 Participants
Resource Circulation Campaign "Battery Turn"
Collecting and Recycling Used Batteries
Second Round of This Year's Campaign Begins in October
LG Electronics is leading the way in recycling home appliance waste by collecting a total of 108 tons of used batteries through its resource circulation campaign, "Battery Turn."
The Battery Turn campaign is an initiative that collects used batteries and other discarded parts from LG Electronics vacuum cleaners to recover waste resources, while offering participating customers discounts on new part purchases. Since 2022, LG Electronics has been conducting the Battery Turn campaign twice a year in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Korea Environment Corporation, and E-Circulation Governance.
This campaign is especially significant because it collects and disassembles used batteries that cannot be reused, extracting and recycling rare metals that are scarce worldwide. Used batteries from the LG CordZero A9S contain rare metals such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, and manganese.
Over the past four years, the campaign has collected approximately 108 tons of used batteries as of this year. The total number of used batteries collected has exceeded 240,000, and more than 9.6 tons of rare metals have been extracted through this process.

This year, LG Electronics promoted the Battery Turn campaign not only through its nationwide service centers and online brand shop, but also via city bus advertisements across the country, encouraging the general public to take an interest in and join resource circulation activities. As a result, during the first round of this year's campaign, which ran for two months starting in May, more than 26,000 people participated?an increase of over 1,500 compared to last year?and more than 18 tons of used batteries were collected.
LG Electronics plans to conduct the second round of this year's campaign starting in October. Customers wishing to participate can return used batteries to any LG Electronics service center nationwide. For customers who cannot visit a service center, it is also possible to apply in advance through the online brand shop and return the used batteries to a nearby waste appliance collection box.
