Correcting Inaccurate Historical Information in Generative AI
Correcting Misinformation on National Heritage Generated by AI
Students Invited to Participate in the Challenge and Win Prizes
The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on July 28 that it will hold the "National Heritage AI Learning Challenge Campaign" until August 17.
This campaign is an initiative to correct inaccurate historical information generated by generative AI. As the use of generative AI such as ChatGPT and DeepSeek increases, there have been frequent cases where information about national heritage is distorted or biased in search results. For example, when asked "Who created Hunminjeongeum?", an answer such as "Sejo created the script for the people, based on a writing system brought from China" may be generated. However, Hunminjeongeum was actually created by King Sejong of Joseon in 1443. According to the National Heritage Portal of the Cultural Heritage Administration, "The Annals of King Sejong state that Hunminjeongeum was personally created by King Sejong in the 25th year of his reign (1443) and was promulgated in the 28th year (1446)."

Middle and high school students, as well as university students who are interested in national heritage, can participate in the campaign. Participants need to capture the information they have corrected by training the AI directly, along with the newly generated, corrected responses, and submit them. Those who perform outstanding activities will receive a small prize.
