Wolpi-dong Welfare Community Center in Ansan to Be Completed by End of July
The "Welfare Community Center" in Wolpi-dong, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, will be completed at the end of July 2025.
The Ansan Wolpi Urban Regeneration Project, which was selected as a Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public contest project in 2018, is promoting a variety of initiatives, including the establishment of the Gwangdeok Community Center, the construction of a crime prevention system and improvement of street environments, support for home repair projects, the creation of a startup incubation center, and the enhancement of children's park environments.
Wolpi-dong is a geographically isolated area surrounded by Gwangdeoksan Mountain and Ansancheon Stream. Its isolation was exacerbated in the 1990s due to the development of new urban districts in Ansan. As a result, its competitiveness as a residential area has weakened rapidly, leading to a swift decline. There is a pressing need to revitalize the area by expanding basic living infrastructure and providing welfare services.
The Welfare Community Center, which is being completed this time, is located at 516-10 Wolpi-dong, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, and will consist of one basement floor and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 1,792 square meters. This center will be used for a variety of welfare programs and as a community activity space for residents, including a Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities, a Community Childcare Center, a Housing Welfare Center, and a Sky Garden.
