Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation Launched... Full-Scale Urban Education Ecosystem Begins
Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation (CEO Lee Sung) announced on the 28th that it successfully held its inaugural ceremony on the 25th, officially marking the launch of the nation’s first urban-type education foundation that integrates both youth and lifelong learning functions.
This launch goes beyond a simple organizational merger, aiming to realize a “Happy Learning City” where everyone can enjoy the joy of learning and teaching in daily life and support each other’s growth.
The foundation presented a new urban education model led by citizens, with the mission “We provide happy learning services that warmly nurture and inspire every citizen,” and the vision “Uijeongbu, the world’s largest campus, where learning transforms my life.”
The inauguration ceremony was attended by approximately 300 people, including Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Donggeun, CEO Lee Sung, members of the National Assembly, city and provincial council members, heads of related organizations, citizen representatives, and youth, all celebrating the new beginning of urban education in Uijeongbu.
In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, “The launch of this foundation, which integrates youth and lifelong learning, is not just an administrative merger, but a new beginning that can transform citizens’ lives. We will focus all of the city’s educational resources and policy capabilities so that the entire city becomes a space for learning.”
Going forward, Uijeongbu Urban Education Foundation plans to transform the entire city into a learning ecosystem by promoting public education outside of schools, expanding small learning platforms throughout the city, supporting integrated development of mind, body, and intellect, and encouraging citizen-led learning.
CEO Lee Sung said, “It was meaningful to share the vision and direction of urban education with citizens through this inaugural ceremony. We will continue to ensure that all citizens become ‘learning citizens’ who realize learning in their daily lives and grow together.”
