Gimcheon City Wins Excellence Award at National Basic Local Government Manifesto Best Practices Competition

Gimcheon City in North Gyeongsang Province received the Excellence Award in the Population Structure Change Response category at the 2025 National Basic Local Government Manifesto Best Practices Competition, which was co-hosted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters and the Gyeongbuk Research Institute.

View original imageThis competition was organized to discover, share, and spread outstanding pledges and policy cases from local governments nationwide. The second and final round of judging took place at Kyungpook National University on July 23 and 24, 2025.
A total of 159 basic local governments across the country submitted 401 cases. Of these, 191 cases that passed the first document screening advanced to the final competition.
The judging was divided into seven categories: ▲Population Structure Change Response ▲Economic and Industrial Support ▲Inequality Reduction ▲Safety and Disaster Management ▲Climate, Environment, and Ecology ▲Social Capital ▲Community Strengthening.
Gimcheon City gave a presentation under the theme "ALL IN ONE Child Care in Gimcheon City: From Birth to Upbringing." The city's effective policies, such as establishing care clusters, expanding public postpartum care centers, and implementing customized birth support measures aimed at achieving a total fertility rate of 1.5, received high praise.
Gimcheon City plans to use this achievement as an opportunity to further strengthen the transparency and accountability of pledge implementation and to continue pursuing practical, action-oriented municipal administration that citizens can truly experience.
Gimcheon Mayor Bae Nakho said, "This award is the result of faithfully fulfilling our promises to citizens and thanks to their active cooperation," adding, "We will continue to implement pledges that citizens can trust and realize Gimcheon as a city where it is good to have and raise children."
