This project, referred to as a 'Work-Residence-Leisure' (Jikjurak) complex because it enables advanced and knowledge-based industries as well as workplaces, residential areas, and cultural activities, began construction in 2017. Currently, it has reached an 85% completion rate and is scheduled for completion in December 2025.
The city has taken a proactive approach to ensure the successful establishment of the industrial complex. Suncheon plans to meticulously inspect every detail on site by forming an Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex Revitalization Council.
The council is headed by the Director of the New Growth Industries Division of Suncheon City and consists of 24 members from 12 fields, including the Suncheon Police Station, Jeonnam City Gas, and the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of Korea Land and Housing Corporation. Each field is represented by a working-level team leader, covering areas such as roads, city gas, sewage, and transportation. The council holds regular meetings on the third week of every month and convenes additional meetings as necessary to address pending issues.
The city also plans to actively cooperate with LH to attract AI (Artificial Intelligence) related companies to the Suncheon Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex.
A city official stated, "The Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex will become a new platform for future industries such as knowledge, culture, and information and communications," and added, "It will be a groundbreaking project that will transform the paradigm of the local industrial ecosystem."
