Busan Research Institute Explores Directions for Local Government Policy Research in the AI Era
First Unveiling of the Digital Information Gate
Supporting Data-Driven Decision Making
Busan Research Institute (President Shin Hyunseok) held an expert seminar on July 24 under the theme "The Direction and Future of Local Government Policy Research in the AI Era" and unveiled its newly established "Digital Information Gate System" for the first time.
The Digital Information Gate System is a platform that integrates policy research, urban statistics, social indicators, and daily life information accumulated by Busan Research Institute. Utilizing AI, big data, and cloud technologies, it is a digital portal accessible to everyone. Its main feature is supporting data-driven policy decision-making.
During the seminar, Lee Sangmin, a researcher at Busan Research Institute, introduced and demonstrated the Digital Information Gate System. Jeong Hyonyong, a professional at Lotte Innovate D&AX Business Division, gave a presentation titled "AI is Coming." The subsequent expert discussion included Kim Hyunseon, Big Data Officer of Busan Metropolitan City; Won Gwanghae, Head of Spatial Strategy Team at Busan Technopark; Kim Jinbae, Senior Researcher at Busan Institute for the Advancement of Science and Technology Higher Education; and Hwang Boram, reporter at KNN. They discussed topics such as data-driven policy development, expanding citizen participation, and strategies for public-private cooperation.
President Shin Hyunseok stated, "The convergence of AI and big data is transforming the paradigm of policy research. Through the Digital Information Gate System, we will evolve into a data-driven research platform and lead the enhancement of Busan's future policy capabilities."
