Uijeongbu City was designated as a women-friendly city by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in 2022, and it is the first and only city in northern Gyeonggi to be re-designated for three consecutive terms. The current group of supporters was selected through an open recruitment process on the city's official website.

For the next two years, the supporters will monitor policies, public facilities, and administrative promotional materials from a gender perspective. They will also identify gender imbalances and inconveniences within the region and propose improvement measures.

During the event, an appreciation plaque was presented to Yang Sookkyung, who has led the Yeouiju Supporters for the past four years, and appointment certificates were awarded to the 8th group of supporters.

Following this, gender expert Kang Si-hyun delivered a special lecture titled 'Music from a Gender Perspective,' providing an opportunity for the supporters to enhance their capabilities.

Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "I hope that the Yeouiju Supporters will play a central role in making Uijeongbu a gender-equal city that citizens can relate to and experience firsthand."
