Tongmyong University College of Companion Animals has taken the initiative to nurture the next generation of professionals who will lead the domestic companion animal industry.

The College of Companion Animals at Tongmyong University consists of the Department of Companion Animal Health, the Department of Pet Grooming and Behavioral Correction, and the School of Companion Animal Industry. Each department trains professionals tailored to industry demands through specialized curricula that encompass both theory and practical skills.

The Department of Companion Animal Health focuses on the value of respect for life and aims to cultivate animal health professionals equipped with both expertise and practical abilities. The program prepares students for careers such as animal health technician, animal hospital coordinator, and animal rehabilitation health specialist. The curriculum covers not only animal health and wellness management but also rehabilitation and physical therapy, as well as practical training in animal hospitals. Joint educational programs with faculty from the University Animal Hospital provide top-level clinical practice, on-site training, and an advanced practical infrastructure.

The Department of Pet Grooming and Behavioral Correction offers practice-oriented education that can be immediately applied in the industry, grounded in academic theory. Through a systematic curriculum and extensive on-site training, the department nurtures experts in companion animal education and hands-on professionals. As the nation's first college dedicated to companion animals, it produces next-generation industry leaders who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. A master's program is also being prepared to train specialized educators.

The School of Companion Animal Industry leads the future industry for the healthy and happy lives of both companion animals and people, operating two majors: 'Pet Food' and 'Companion Animal Industry Design,' based on practical and creative education.

The 'Pet Food' major develops companion animal nutritionists through specialized knowledge of the physical characteristics and health conditions of companion animals, customized nutrition management, meal planning, healthy snack recipe development, and dietary education. In addition, it produces technical experts in feed processing who can systematically analyze, evaluate, and manage risk factors throughout the entire process from raw material management to manufacturing, processing, cooking, and distribution. The curriculum is based on the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards for food and feed safety management.

The 'Companion Animal Industry Design' major is responsible for designing products and services that enrich the lives of companion animals. The program provides education in both functional and aesthetic design, as well as the specialized knowledge and creative thinking required for production and manufacturing, aiming to cultivate industry design professionals. The goal is to produce convergent design experts who can deliver value not only to companion animals but also to users and businesses.

A representative from Tongmyong University stated, "We are strengthening our practice-oriented and convergent curricula to respond to the rapidly growing companion animal market," and emphasized, "We will continue to nurture competitive professionals who can play active roles in various fields within the companion animal industry."
