Its purpose is to enhance safety in educational settings and to make substantial improvements to learning environments by repairing and maintaining aging school facilities.
The recipients of this support are a total of 11 schools: Gimpo Science and Technology High School, Sau Elementary School, Masong Middle School, Eunyeoul Middle School, Gimpo Hangaram Middle School, Yuhyeon Elementary School, Gimpo Sinpung Elementary School, Unyang High School, Tongjin Middle School, Bunjin Middle School, and Gochon High School. Subsidies were allocated for various facility improvement projects tailored to the needs of each school.
First, Gimpo Science and Technology High School, which received support in March, is replacing the gymnasium floor that has been in use for over 20 years due to its severe deterioration and the resulting high risk of student accidents. Sau Elementary School is transforming its learning space into a future-oriented educational environment by installing media art and creating a digital space.
Masong Middle School, which received support this time, is improving its music room, which lacked adequate soundproofing, and is also reorganizing its underutilized computer room and replacing outdated equipment. Eunyeoul Middle School is installing a canopy at the gymnasium entrance to enhance safety, addressing the risk of slipping accidents. Gimpo Hangaram Middle School is expanding its physical activity spaces by constructing a new basketball court and renovating the track, while Yuhyeon Elementary School is replacing old broadcasting equipment to increase the efficiency of educational activities.
Gimpo Sinpung Elementary School is completely replacing old classroom doors to prevent safety accidents, and Unyang High School is repairing sidewalk blocks on the school route that had become hazardous due to ground subsidence.
Tongjin Middle School is removing a corroded steel connecting passage and installing a new, safer passageway, while Bunjin Middle School is replacing outdated electrical facilities that had been disrupting classes. Gochon High School is restructuring its library into a convergence learning space to address the shortage of classroom space caused by the operation of the high school credit system.
Mayor Kim Byungsoo stated, "Gimpo City is not only upgrading the level of education but is also actively working to improve children's educational environments in everyday life. We will do our utmost to ensure that changes tailored to the circumstances and characteristics of each school allow our children to experience and grow from these improvements in their daily lives," adding, "Children are the most respected citizens of Gimpo. We will actively work for the education and growth of our children, who are the future of Gimpo."
