Gyeonggi Province Holds 'Hwaseong International Theme Park' Progress Briefing on the 24th... Groundbreaking Set for 2026
On July 24, Gyeonggi Province held a briefing session on the progress of the Hwaseong International Theme Park project at the Gyeonggi Institute of Economic Science and Technology (R&DB Center).
This briefing session was organized to review the progress of the "Hwaseong International Theme Park Development Project," which is the first project of the Gyeonggi Private Development Support Center operated by Gyeonggi Province, and to strengthen the collaborative system among related organizations.
Shinsegae Hwaseong Co., Ltd., the project implementer, explained the overall project at the briefing session, including the current status of the development plan, the main attraction concepts utilizing Paramount intellectual property (IP·Intellectual Property), and plans for internal roads and infrastructure. The company also requested cooperation among institutions to ensure smooth project implementation.

View original imageThe Hwaseong International Theme Park Development Project aims to develop a resort-type tourism complex, including a theme park, hotels, and shopping malls, on a 2,855,000 square meter (870,000 pyeong) site on the east side of Songsan Green City, with a total project cost of 9.5 trillion won.
The development plan is currently being prepared. In August, the project implementer will submit the development plan to Hwaseong City, after which Hwaseong City will review it and then apply for final approval from Gyeonggi Province. The project is scheduled to break ground in 2026, with the goal of opening in 2030.
