Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province is providing a free three-part support program to prevent missing persons incidents among seniors at risk, such as those with dementia. The program includes wrist-worn wandering detectors, wandering identification tags, and a pre-registration system for fingerprints.
Wrist-worn wandering detectors and wandering identification tags distributed free of charge by Yeongdeok County.

This helps prevent missing person incidents and enables quick discovery and response if an incident occurs.
The wandering identification tag is issued after registering information such as the senior's name, photo, address, and caregiver's contact details in the Dementia Safety Integrated Management System. Each tag is assigned a unique identification number and can be attached to clothing using an iron, making it durable, washable, and suitable for long-term use.
The fingerprint pre-registration system involves registering the senior's fingerprints, photo, and caregiver's contact information in advance with the National Police Agency system. This enables the police to quickly locate and assist in the safe return of missing seniors.
Kang Jongho, head of the Yeongdeok County Public Health Center, stated, "As the number of dementia patients increases due to aging, it has become more important than ever to prevent missing person incidents in advance and to respond quickly. We will continue to build a comprehensive community-based care system so that seniors and their families can live their daily lives with peace of mind."
