Busan Development Institute (President Shin Hyunseok) participated in the "Seminar on Cooperation Plans for Establishing the East Sea Mega City Economic Zone," held on July 22 at the Global Headquarters Seminar Room of the Second Government Complex of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, and shared the vision and strategies for mutual development along the East Coast region.

View original imageThis seminar was co-hosted by the Gangwon Research Institute and the Global Headquarters of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province to commemorate the second anniversary of the establishment of the Global Headquarters.
The seminar was organized to strengthen collaboration among research institutes in the East Coast region and to explore practical measures for joint regional development. Participating organizations focused their discussions on concrete cooperation strategies to enhance the feasibility of the East Sea Mega City initiative.
At the seminar, Jang Hayong, Director of the Future Strategy Planning Office at Busan Development Institute, gave a presentation introducing plans to create new growth engines by leveraging Busan's characteristics as a maritime city, as well as the city's mid- to long-term development vision. In addition, Gangwon Research Institute, Gyeongbuk Research Institute, and Ulsan Research Institute each presented specialized strategies focused on their respective regions' industries, tourism, and spatial planning.
The comprehensive discussion session included Shin Hyunseok, President of Busan Development Institute, as well as the heads of the participating regional research institutes and the head of the Global Headquarters of Gangwon Province. They engaged in in-depth discussions on building a cooperative governance framework to realize the East Sea Mega City.
President Shin Hyunseok emphasized, "Cooperation among East Coast regions is key to balanced regional development, and this seminar will serve as a meaningful opportunity to lay the foundation for substantial policy cooperation."
