The Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Kim Byungjoon) announced on July 23 that it will implement an emergency support program totaling 500 million won to assist disaster victims and restore areas affected by nationwide heavy rainfall.
This emergency support, named the "2025 National Heavy Rain Damage Emergency Support Project Garo (Garo) Lamp - The Way Home," will target regions affected by heavy rainfall for approximately two months, from July 24 to September 30.
First, in severely affected areas such as Gyeongnam, Chungnam, Jeonnam, Gwangju, and Gyeonggi, the organization plans to directly provide equipment and supplies needed for recovery to individual households, farms, and social welfare facilities. In particular, essential items and on-site customized supplies will be promptly delivered to disaster victims, including more than 2,400 people staying in temporary shelters. Nationwide recovery support will also be provided in parallel. Volunteers and activists assisting with recovery efforts will be supported with ready-to-eat meals (emergency rations), transportation assistance, and recovery equipment and supplies.
