View original imageIn a statement released on the 22nd, the Buk-gu District Council said, "Due to the extreme heavy rain, one resident has died and another is missing, and property damage is estimated at approximately 15 billion won. The living environment of our residents has been devastated, and urgent help and support are needed." The council added, "Only the government's swift and decisive action can enable us to overcome this disaster situation quickly. We strongly urge the declaration of the entire Buk-gu district as a special disaster zone."
On the 17th, Buk-gu experienced a record-breaking rainfall of 426.4 millimeters in a single day, causing widespread flooding and structural collapses. The Buk-gu District Office has activated a public-private cooperation system for disaster response and, as of this date, is urgently raising 500 million won in Hometown Love donations.
