Special Prosecutor on Corporal Chae Case: "Seized Materials of Cho Taeyong and Lee Jongho to Be Shared with Other Special Prosecutors"
The special prosecutor team led by Lee Myunghyun, which is investigating allegations of external pressure in the death of Marine Corps Corporal Chae, has agreed to share seized materials related to former National Intelligence Service Director Cho Taeyong and former Black Pearl Invest CEO Lee Jongho, obtained through search and seizure, with other special prosecutors.
Special Prosecutor Jung Minyoung stated at a regular briefing on the 22nd, "Currently, there are a total of three special prosecutors active, and some of the investigation targets overlap," adding, "We have been in discussions because it is necessary for other special prosecutors to review seized materials obtained by one special prosecutor."
Jung continued, "For some of the materials we secured through search and seizure, other special prosecutors have obtained search and seizure warrants," and explained, "The special prosecutor investigating the insurrection case has obtained a warrant for materials related to former Director Cho, while the special prosecutor investigating Kim Keonhee has obtained a warrant for materials related to former CEO Lee." He added, "We will confirm the warrants issued by the court and cooperate with their execution."
Previously, on the 10th, the special prosecutor conducted a search and seizure at the residence of former CEO Lee, who is known as a close associate of First Lady Kim Keonhee. On the 11th, they searched the home of former Director Cho and secured related materials, including mobile phones.

Meanwhile, the warrant review for former Marine Corps Commander Kim Gyehwan was held from 10:30 a.m. to around 12:47 p.m. on the same day. Special Prosecutor Jung emphasized, "It has been sufficiently confirmed through the investigation that the testimony of former Commander Kim differs from objective facts," and added, "Considering the statements made by the suspect during the special prosecutor's investigation, as well as previous communications with military officials, there is a significant possibility of evidence destruction." The decision on whether to detain former Commander Kim is expected as early as this afternoon.
