Haenam County Offers 'Traditional Culture Experience' Opportunities to Foreign Seasonal Workers
Featuring Singing Bowl Healing and Korean Food Making Experiences
Haenam County in South Jeolla Province is drawing attention by providing foreign seasonal workers with opportunities to experience Korean traditional culture firsthand.
On July 22, Haenam County announced that it hosted the "2025 Culture Day - Culture Delivery Everywhere" program in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and South Jeolla Province. This program is being carried out together with the Jeonnam Cultural Foundation, Haenam Culture and Tourism Foundation, and the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, and has opened a venue for cultural experiences for foreign seasonal workers.

The target participants are foreign seasonal workers assigned to Ttangkkeut Nonghyup and Hwangsan Nonghyup, who are short-term workers employed in Korea from May to October. It provided a valuable chance to pause their busy farming season and experience aspects of Korean culture they had not encountered before.
The first event, held last month, featured a variety of cultural experience programs. Participants enjoyed singing bowl healing, Korean food making, and fireworks, directly experiencing Korean traditions and sentiments.
A Vietnamese worker who participated in the event shared, "I haven't had the chance to experience culture because of work, so I was touched by how warmly Haenam County welcomed us. It became a precious opportunity to understand Korea more closely."
An official from the county stated, "Culture is an important channel that connects people and hearts. We will continue to expand cultural exchange programs so that workers can share warm memories beyond just work."
Meanwhile, at the second event scheduled for July 28, various programs such as Korean food experiences, martial arts uniform experiences, and busking performances will be offered, providing another meaningful cultural experience opportunity for foreign workers.
