Ahn Cheolsoo Meets People Power Party Innovation Chair Yoon Heesook, Agrees to Change Party Convention Rules to Reflect Public Opinion
Agreement on “100% Reflection of Public Opinion Polls”
Representative Ahn Cheolsoo, who has entered the race for leadership of the People Power Party, met with Innovation Committee Chairperson Yoon Heesook on the 21st and stated, "I fully agree with the proposal to radically change the party convention rules."
Speaking to reporters after meeting with Chairperson Yoon at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido that afternoon, Representative Ahn said, "I heard the suggestion that instead of reflecting 80% party member votes and 20% general public opinion polls, we should switch to reflecting 100% public opinion polls," expressing his agreement.
The meeting was arranged at the suggestion of Representative Ahn. Representative Ahn and Chairperson Yoon confirmed their consensus on the party innovation proposals and exchanged opinions.
They also shared concerns regarding the admission of Jeon Hangil, a Korean history lecturer who has opposed the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol and advocated for election fraud theories. Representative Ahn said, "If our party embraces individuals who seek to drag us back to the past rather than innovate, even more reasonable conservative figures will leave or turn away from the party than those who gather. We shared the awareness that this would inevitably cause our party to shrink further."
