KOSPI Reclaims 3,200 Mark... KOSDAQ Slightly Weaker
Buoyed by buying from foreign investors and institutions, the KOSPI index reclaimed the 3,200 mark on July 21.
As of 9:45 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was trading at 3,202.32, up 14.25 points (0.45%) from the previous day. The index opened at 3,191.11, up 3.04 points (0.10%), and continued to gain ground. Foreign investors were net buyers of 292.3 billion won, while institutions purchased 76 billion won. Individual investors, on the other hand, sold 381 billion won worth of shares.
Among large-cap stocks, Hanwha Ocean (up 4.23%), POSCO Holdings (up 2.81%), Hanwha Aerospace (up 2.79%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (up 2.47%), Doosan Enerbility (up 2.01%), SK Hynix (up 1.49%), KB Financial Group (up 1.41%), Celltrion (up 1.16%), LG Energy Solution (up 0.93%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (up 0.91%), and Samsung Electronics (up 0.75%) all rose. In contrast, Samsung Life Insurance (down 1.92%), Samsung Biologics (down 0.76%), and NAVER (down 0.62%) declined.
By sector, metals (up 1.84%), entertainment and culture (up 1.58%), chemicals (up 1.47%), machinery and equipment (up 1.46%), transportation equipment and parts (up 1.32%), electrical and electronics (up 0.92%), and manufacturing (up 0.89%) posted gains. On the other hand, insurance (down 1.80%), transportation and storage (down 1.52%), paper and wood (down 1.29%), food, beverage, and tobacco (down 1.07%), securities (down 0.99%), medical precision instruments (down 0.95%), and construction (down 0.85%) were weak.

Foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 24.9 billion won and 6.1 billion won, respectively. Individual investors were net buyers of 32.4 billion won.

Among the top KOSDAQ stocks, SM (up 3.90%), EcoPro (up 2.27%), Caregen (up 1.39%), JYP Ent. (up 1.33%), and Silicon Two (up 1.38%) rose. Meanwhile, Abl Bio (down 4.31%), LIG Chem Bio (down 3.32%), HLB (down 3.21%), Alteogen (down 2.24%), Voronoi (down 2.11%), Kolon TissueGene (down 1.14%), Hugel (down 0.97%), and EO Technics (down 0.88%) declined.
