Pyeongtaek City Wins Domestic City Category at 'WSCE Awards'
Achievements of the Small and Strong Smart City Development Project
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it received the Excellence in Smart City Award in the Domestic Category at the World Smart City Expo (WSCE) 2025 Awards, which was held at BEXCO in Busan on the 16th.

View original imageThis award is the official awards ceremony of the WSCE, the largest smart city international event in the Asia-Pacific region, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Science and ICT. It recognizes cities and institutions that have demonstrated outstanding achievements and innovative approaches in smart city development.
The city explained that it was recognized for its successful implementation of the 'Small and Strong Smart City Development Project.' This project, currently being promoted by the city, aims to realize a carbon-neutral and eco-friendly city by utilizing smart city technologies.
To achieve this, the city is applying a variety of solutions, including a building energy efficiency platform; an Internet of Things (IoT) tree watering system; unmanned transparent PET bottle collection machines and artificial intelligence (AI) autonomous collection robots; a carbon-neutral citizen activity app; a carbon-neutral integrated platform; and an urban data hub and innovation center, thereby building a sustainable smart city.
