Yunsik Kim, Chairman of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, Attends World Credit Union Conference as Board Member
Discussing Operational Directions with Representatives from 56 Countries Worldwide
The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on the 17th that it participated in the '2025 World Credit Union Conference' held in Stockholm, Sweden.
This year's conference, marking its 20th anniversary, was organized by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). The event brought together more than 1,900 credit union representatives from 56 countries around the world to discuss the future of sustainable finance and the social role of cooperatives. The World Credit Union Conference is the only global cooperative finance conference dedicated to improving the quality of life for members, providing top-level financial education, global networking, and international policy discussions.
In particular, the National Credit Union Federation of Korea participated in strategic discussions for global cooperatives as a WOCCU board member country, and presented practical cases of the Korean credit union's initiatives on youth leadership and the creation of social value.

View original imageOn the 16th, at a breakout session, Jonghwan Jang, Head of the Financial Strategy Team, and Seojeong Choi, Manager at the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, gave a presentation on "Strategies for Attracting Young Members to Secure Future Customers." They introduced various approaches targeting the MZ generation (Millennials and Generation Z), including the development of digital-friendly financial products, operating internships and mentoring programs for university students, and campus promotions using the brand mascot "Eobuba," explaining a multifaceted approach to expanding young membership.
Meanwhile, Yunsik Kim, Chairman of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea, has served as a director of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and as President of the Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU) for the past eight years.

Chairman Kim stated, "Through solidarity and cooperation among credit unions worldwide, we will continue to spread the fundamental value of cooperatives, which is 'finance for people.'" He added, "It is very meaningful to share the Korean credit union's experiences in digital transformation and social responsibility on the international stage." He continued, "As a WOCCU board member country, I feel both responsibility and pride in the fact that the voice of Korean credit unions is making a practical contribution to global discussions. Above all, I believe WOCCU's most important role is to help cooperative finance take root in countries where credit unions are not yet fully developed. I will continue to actively participate in realizing these values."
