Multiple Illegal Recordings Found on Mobile Phone
A high school student in Jeju was apprehended by police for illegally filming in the women's restroom of a cafe.
On July 16, the Seogwipo Police Station in Jeju announced that they had arrested a teenage high school student, referred to as "A," in the act on suspicion of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
Student A is suspected of illegally filming in a restroom at a cafe near a popular tourist destination in Seogwipo at around 12:30 p.m. on July 13, using a mobile phone.
According to the police investigation, Student A installed a mobile phone on a shelf under the sink in the women's restroom to record an unspecified number of women.
The crime was discovered when a female customer using the restroom noticed something unusual and reported it to the police. It was reported that Student A's mobile phone contained multiple videos suspected to have been illegally recorded.
The police have confiscated Student A's mobile phone and are conducting a digital forensic analysis to investigate the details of the incident. They also stated that they are considering applying for an arrest warrant for Student A.
