From the 3rd to the 12th of this month, the delegation visited Utah and Nevada in the United States for 9 nights and 10 days, holding a tour exchange event to express gratitude to local veterans and their families.
This delegation was composed of students selected as Little Ambassadors from among the winners of the annual 'Write a Thank-You Letter to UN Korean War Veterans' contest, which attracts about 8,000 elementary, middle, and high school students nationwide each year.
The schedule began with an MOU signing ceremony between Cottonwood Heights City in Utah and Incheon Yeonsu District Office. The official commemorative ceremony in Cedar City, Utah, was attended by about 150 people, including veterans, their families, and local community leaders. Hanseong Kim (Phillips Exeter), the high school grand prize winner, took the stage as the representative of the delegation and received a certificate of appreciation. U.S. Representative Maloy attended the event and personally presented the certificate to Kim. Diplomats from the Consulate General of Los Angeles and local professors also participated to encourage the delegation. Notably, an American professor and his wife traveled about 280 kilometers to attend the event, stating that they were deeply moved by "the dignity of diplomacy conveyed by the youth."
