Trump to Notify Smaller Countries of Uniform Reciprocal Tariff Rate Over 10% Soon
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he would impose a uniform reciprocal tariff rate of just over 10% on smaller countries, including those in Africa.
President Trump made this statement after attending an event in Pittsburgh on the 15th (local time) and returning to Washington, telling reporters that he would soon send tariff letters to the target countries.
On the 7th, President Trump had already sent letters specifying reciprocal tariff rates to 14 countries, including South Korea and Japan, stating that reciprocal tariffs would be imposed starting from the 1st of next month. On this day, President Trump reaffirmed the schedule for imposing reciprocal tariffs and explained that the United States is currently conducting additional trade negotiations with five to six more countries.
