Busan Transportation Corporation Begins Comprehensive Railway Test Operation for Yangsan Line... "All-Out Effort for Timely Opening"
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) has officially begun preparations for the comprehensive railway test operation, aiming to open the Yangsan Line of the urban railway in the second half of 2026.
The corporation is focusing its efforts on identifying and addressing potential risk factors before the line's operation by conducting preliminary consulting and operating a dedicated task force (TF).
The comprehensive railway test operation is a mandatory process to ensure safety when constructing or upgrading an urban railway.
A thorough pre-inspection is conducted through a three-stage procedure: △review of technical standards for railway facilities, △facility verification tests, and △trial operation for commercial service. To minimize trial and error and establish a stable foundation for the line’s opening, the corporation will conduct preliminary consulting with the Korea Transportation Safety Authority for three days from the 16th to the 18th. This consulting will include customized training for practitioners as well as on-site inspections.
Additionally, the corporation plans to systematically manage the preparation process at each stage by forming a comprehensive railway test operation task force composed of experts in various fields such as railway facilities, rolling stock, and signaling. The task force will focus on simultaneously enhancing both the safety and efficiency of railway operations.
The Yangsan Line is a route connecting seven stations from Nopo Station to Bukjeong Station, and it is gaining attention as a key transportation network linking Busan and Yangsan. After its opening, public transportation accessibility between the two regions is expected to improve significantly, and it is anticipated to contribute to the expansion of the greater metropolitan living sphere.
