View original imageNow in its 17th year, the Yangju Kim Satgat National Literature Contest was established to honor the literary spirit of Nango Kim Byeongyeon (Kim Satgat), a genius poet and man of refined taste from the late Joseon Dynasty, and to widely promote Yangju City, where his historic sites are located.
The contest was held on May 24, organized and hosted by the Yangju branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (Chairman Seo Soonoh). A total of 380 participants from across the country submitted works in both poetry and prose categories.
The judging was conducted through fair evaluations by external literary experts. A total of 34 awards were selected across the two categories of poetry and prose: Grand Prize (1 winner), Excellence Prize (8 winners), Merit Prize (8 winners), Encouragement Prize (16 winners), and Group Prize (1 group).
The awards ceremony was attended by about 70 people, including Mayor Yang Soo Hyun, Yangju City Council Chairman Yoon Changcheol, Yangju Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations Chairman Seo Soonoh, Yangju Cultural Center Director Jung Taeyoung, Korea Writers' Association Yangju Branch President Lee Wonpyo, as well as the winners and their families.
