View original imageYeosu City, South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Kimyung), announced on the 15th that on the 14th, Vice Mayor Choi Junggi led a visit to the National Policy Planning Committee to request the inclusion of key regional issues in the national agenda.
Vice Mayor Choi met with Kim Kyungho, Professor at Jeju National University and a member of the National Policy Planning Committee from Yeosu, as well as Representative Hwang Jeonga, who is also a committee member. He provided a detailed explanation of regional issues and delivered materials requesting cooperation to the offices of local representatives Ju Cheolhyeon and Cho Gyewon.
The main requests included: ▲support for a major transformation and competitiveness recovery of the petrochemical industry ▲construction of the RE100 Energy Expressway and offshore wind farm at the Yeosu National Industrial Complex ▲establishment of a global marine tourism hub and a convention-specialized city ▲upgrading Yeosu Airport to an international airport serving the southern coastal and central southern regions ▲attracting COP33 to the southern coastal and central southern regions ▲support for the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, among a total of 14 items. In addition, various other issues for the sustainable development of Yeosu and balanced national development were also raised.
This aligns with the 'Five Major Pledges' that President Lee Jaemyung promised to the Yeosu region during the 21st presidential election, and Yeosu City is making multifaceted efforts to promote balanced national development and revitalize the regional economy.
