Yangcheon District Makes Youth Psychological Counseling Completely Free, Extends Hours to 9 p.m.
Held at Sinwol 6-dong Youth Counseling and Welfare Center
On July 13, Yangcheon District in Seoul announced that it will make all youth individual counseling services offered by its Youth Counseling and Welfare Center completely free of charge, and extend counseling hours on weekdays until 9 p.m.
The district has improved accessibility and convenience for youth counseling through these changes, enabling teenagers with various concerns?such as school life, career paths, and interpersonal relationships?to receive professional psychological counseling without restrictions of time or cost.
Previously, there was a fee of 5,000 won per session for individual counseling. However, starting this month, any youth residing in Yangcheon District can use the counseling services free of charge.
In addition, to accommodate teenagers and guardians who find daytime counseling difficult, the weekday closing time has been extended from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday counseling sessions (from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) will also be available. The extended hours will be operated on a trial basis for three months from this month through September. After comprehensively reviewing demand and operational effectiveness, the district will decide whether to formally expand the service in the future.
Counseling takes place at the Yangcheon District Youth Counseling and Welfare Center, located on the second floor of the Sinwol 6-dong Complex Building. Applications can be made by phone or through the center’s website.
Meanwhile, the Yangcheon District Youth Counseling and Welfare Center serves as a hub for early detection of at-risk youth and emotional support, operating a variety of psychological counseling and educational programs for youth and their families.
