Russia: "Peace Talks Not Suspended... Waiting for Signal from Ukraine"
On July 10 (local time), Russia stated that peace talks with Ukraine have not been suspended and that it is waiting for a signal from the Ukrainian side to resume negotiations.
According to major foreign news outlets and Yonhap News, Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, held a briefing that day and denied that negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are deadlocked, saying, "I would not say that."
Peskov stated, "We still have to wait for a signal from representatives of the Kyiv regime indicating a desire and willingness for direct Russia-Ukraine negotiations."
Russia and Ukraine held peace talks in Istanbul, T?rkiye, on May 16 and June 2, but were unable to narrow their differences. No date has been set for a third round of negotiations.
Peskov said, "We have stated that we prefer to achieve our objectives in Ukraine through diplomatic and peaceful means," adding, "However, under the current circumstances, the 'special military operation' continues." On this day, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Russian forces attacked military-industrial complex enterprises and military airfield facilities in Kyiv, Ukraine, using high-precision long-range weapons and drones.
