Booyoung Group CEO Orders Enhanced Heat Illness Prevention...Compliance with Government Heatwave Safety Rules
Cooling Devices Installed at Construction Sites Nationwide
45 Minutes of Work and 15 Minutes of Rest During Heatwave Warnings
As the heatwave continues this month with perceived temperatures exceeding 33 degrees Celsius, Booyoung Group announced on July 10 that it has strengthened on-site safety and health measures to prevent heat-related illnesses among construction workers.
Booyoung Group applied the government's recommended 'Five Basic Heatwave Safety Rules' at all its sites after an unprecedented heatwave pushed midday temperatures close to 40 degrees Celsius, especially in the western regions including the Seoul metropolitan area. The company implemented measures such as providing cool water and cooling equipment, mandatory 20-minute breaks every two hours, distributing cooling gear, and establishing an emergency reporting system to 119, enabling step-by-step responses to heatwave conditions.
At construction sites nationwide, Booyoung Group installed portable air conditioners and industrial fans for cooling and ventilation. During heatwave warnings, workers are required to take a 15-minute break after 45 minutes of work, and during heat advisories, a 10-minute break after 50 minutes of work is mandatory. In addition, ice and shaded areas are provided, and if a worker reports any health issues, work is immediately halted.
