Two of Four Missing While Swimming in Geumgang River Found in Cardiac Arrest
On July 9, two out of four people in their twenties who went missing while swimming in the upper reaches of the Geumgang River in Geumsan County, South Chungcheong Province, were found in cardiac arrest.
According to the police and other authorities, during the search operation, two of the four missing individuals were found in succession at 8:46 p.m. and 9:04 p.m. Both were confirmed to be in cardiac arrest.
Earlier, at 6:19 p.m. that day, a 119 emergency call was received reporting that four people in their twenties had gone missing while swimming near the upper reaches of the Geumgang River in Cheonnaeri, Geumsan County.
According to fire authorities, A (23) and four others had come from Daejeon to Geumsan to swim. The caller, A, was one of the five and reported to 119 after returning from the restroom to find that his friends had disappeared.

The police and fire authorities are continuing the nighttime search operation, deploying 100 pieces of equipment?including lighting vehicles, rescue boats, and helicopters?and more than 100 search personnel.
