Union Representative: "We Will Focus on the Hunger Strike"
As controversy continues to grow over the planned relocation of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (hereafter referred to as the Ministry), the executive members of the Ministry's labor union are currently staging a hunger strike at the National Assembly in Seoul. As a result, it has been confirmed that representatives of the Ministry's labor union will not attend the citizen cultural festival scheduled to be held in Sejong City on July 11, which is organized by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Citizen Watch Group.
An official from the Ministry told Asia Economy in a phone call on July 9, "We are unable to attend the citizen cultural festival as we must focus on the hunger strike at the National Assembly."
