At around 6:19 p.m. on July 9, four people in their twenties went missing while swimming near the upper stream of the Geumgang River in Cheonnaeri, Geumsan County, South Chungcheong Province.
According to fire authorities, on this day, five people including a 23-year-old man identified as A visited Geumsan from Daejeon to swim.
A, who reported the incident, was one of the five. After returning from the restroom, he found his friends missing and called 119 for help.
