Hyosook Kim, a member of the Sejong City Council, held a Technology Startup Communication Day with young startup leaders on July 9. The event was organized to assess the current state of technology-based startups and to explore effective ways to establish practical startup policies.
During the event, one entrepreneur stated, "Without the cooperation of local governments, it is difficult for technology-based startups to grow," and requested the operation of testbeds where startup products can be validated in real-world environments, as well as the establishment of a flexible administrative support system. The entrepreneur added, "In Seoul, responsible officials visit the field to observe experiments and make decisions on adoption, whereas in Sejong, there is no response even when official documents are sent," calling for more effective policy linkage and implementation.
An official from the Economic Policy Division responded, "While we are currently operating various startup support programs, we recognize that there are gaps in the growth stages, such as verification and market access after the initial startup phase," and added, "We will work to improve the system by strengthening collaboration among departments and enhancing policy feedback."
The Sejong Center for Creative Economy and Innovation and the Technopark also agreed that "young entrepreneurs in Sejong need continuous attention and support even after the initial support phase," and emphasized the need to provide verification spaces, as well as support for the exhibition, promotion, and distribution of startup products.
Hyosook Kim stressed, "Technology startups are a core strategy for Sejong City to secure self-sufficiency and encourage young people to settle," adding, "This event is not just about promoting policies, but is a practical process of reflecting the voices from the field in policymaking."
