On July 8 (local time), Reuters reported that a local police report included this finding. The forensic team is analyzing the tire marks left on the asphalt at the accident site to determine whether a tire burst occurred and whether the accident happened at high speed.
According to local reports in Spain, on July 3, Jota was riding in his Lamborghini sports car with his brother Andre when the accident occurred while they were passing through the A-52 highway in the Palacios de Sanabria area of Spain. The vehicle caught fire after veering off the road, resulting in the deaths of both Jota and his brother.
The tragedy was especially heartbreaking for fans because the accident happened just two weeks after Jota's wedding on June 22. Jota and his wife, Rute Cardoso, first met in 2013 and became a couple. Since the birth of their first child in 2020, they have had three children together.
Jota, who died at the young age of 28, was a Liverpool forward and a member of the Portuguese national team. His brother, Andre Jota, who died in the accident as well, played in Portugal's second division football league.
