The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on July 9 that Second Vice Minister Ryu Jemyung attended the "1st Korea-Canada 1.5 Track Advanced Technology Dialogue" held at the Canadian Embassy in Seoul, where he emphasized the need to expand cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI).
This event, held for the first time this year, was co-hosted by the Canadian Embassy in Korea, the Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APFC). Each year, the governments, industries, and academia of both countries will gather to discuss ways to cooperate on different advanced technology topics.
The theme of the inaugural meeting was "Open Dialogue on the Future of Artificial Intelligence." Vice Minister Ryu, STEPI President Yoon Jiwoong, Canadian Ambassador to Korea Tamara Mawhinney, and Gillian Frost, Director General for Cyber, Critical Technology and Democracy Resilience at Global Affairs Canada, attended the event. They discussed opportunities for industrial cooperation through AI and science and technology, as well as ways to expand international collaboration.
STEPI and APFC agreed to continue policy and research exchanges through regular dialogues in the future.
