Daegu Happy Dormitory to Recruit 263 University Students for Second Semester... Monthly Fee 264,000 Won, Meals 5,100 Won Each
Daegu City will be accepting applications for new residents for the second semester at the Daegu Happy Dormitory, operated by the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private Schools and located in Suchang-dong, Jung-gu, from July 10 to July 23, 2025.
The Daegu Happy Dormitory, which opened in March 2023 with an investment of 45.1 billion won by Daegu City and the Korea Foundation for the Promotion of Private Schools, consists of two basement floors and 14 above-ground floors. Since its opening, it has continued to receive enthusiastic responses from local university students, as it was established to improve housing welfare for university students and young people in the region.
The dormitory has 503 rooms and can accommodate 1,000 residents. For the second semester, 263 new residents will be recruited, excluding those who wish to extend their stay. Residents can stay for six-month periods, and, if desired, may reside for up to eight years.
Any undergraduate or graduate student under the age of 39 enrolled at a university in Daegu or Gyeongbuk is eligible to apply. After the first round of selections, if there are vacancies, young people under the age of 39 will also be considered for admission.
The monthly dormitory fee is 264,000 won. Meals are available at the dormitory cafeteria at the affordable price of 5,100 won per meal. Residents also have access to various amenities within the dormitory, including a fitness room, laundry room, and reading room.
In addition, a 24-hour security system is in place, utilizing an unmanned parcel delivery system and a biometric access control system, ensuring a safe and convenient dormitory life.
On the first floor of the public facility connected to the dormitory, the 'Hope Closet' offers free interview suit rentals for job seekers, and the 'Youth Center' serves as a communication space for young people.
The 'Regional University Cooperation Center,' located on the second floor, provides various community spaces, including lecture rooms and a multi-studio available for reservation, supporting residents with job and entrepreneurship information as well as opportunities for networking.
Lee Euna, Director of University Policy at Daegu City, stated, "The Daegu Happy Dormitory not only provides a stable academic environment for local university students, but also supports their job search and entrepreneurial activities. It is more than just a place to live; it will serve as a stepping stone for the region's future talent to fully realize their potential. I hope students will begin a meaningful second semester at the Daegu Happy Dormitory, which offers a convenient location and excellent facilities."
