Plan International Korea, an international relief and development NGO (hereafter referred to as Plan), announced that it carried out a technical maintenance volunteer program in collaboration with Hyundai Motor Company's Overseas Talent Donation Volunteer Group at the Halla Vocational Technical Development Institute (Lao-Korea Institute for Skill Development, LKISD) in Vientiane, Laos, starting from July 1, 2025.

This volunteer program was conducted with the aim of transferring advanced maintenance technologies and enhancing the capabilities of technical personnel. It targeted 30 vocational training instructors and 31 local maintenance engineers in Laos.

Since 2013, Hyundai Motor Company and Plan have been implementing the "Hyundai Dream Center" initiative to support the self-reliance of young people in developing countries. To date, Dream Centers have been established and educational programs operated in seven countries: Ghana (2013), Indonesia (2014), Cambodia (2015), Vietnam (2016), the Philippines (2018), Peru (2019), and Kenya (2021).

Additionally, since 2015, outstanding engineers selected in Korea have participated in the "Overseas Talent Donation Volunteer Group" activities, sharing advanced maintenance technologies and supporting the capacity building of local technical personnel. This program was temporarily suspended in 2020 due to COVID-19 but resumed in Vietnam in 2023 and has since been held regularly every year.

This year's volunteer activity was carried out for the first time in Laos, where the Hyundai Dream Center is not yet operating. It reflects Hyundai Motor Company's commitment to expanding its support for nurturing technical talent and providing more opportunities to young people in developing countries.

Outstanding engineers selected from across Korea participated in this activity. Locally, a total of 61 people, including instructors from the Halla Vocational Technical Development Institute and other regional vocational training centers, as well as maintenance engineers, took part.

The training was conducted for instructors from the Halla Vocational Technical Development Institute and other regional vocational training centers. Participants were divided into three groups by subject, and specialized, customized training was provided. The program included hands-on, practice-oriented training using maintenance parts prepared by Hyundai Motor Company, as well as teaching materials optimized for the local environment to enhance learning effectiveness. In addition, certificates of completion were awarded to participants who finished the training, boosting their pride as local technical professionals.

A representative from Plan stated, "This volunteer activity was a meaningful project that went beyond simple technical education, laying the foundation for the sustainable growth of technical personnel in developing countries," and added, "We will continue to provide ongoing support together with Hyundai Motor Company so that young people can dream of a better future."
