Gyeonggi Province to Collect and Inspect Prepared Foods at Food Service Establishments to Prevent Food Poisoning
As the risk of food poisoning increases during the summer, highlighted by a recent mass food poisoning incident at a restaurant in the Gyeonggi region, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will conduct inspections of potentially hazardous prepared foods at food service establishments in the province from July 7 to July 10.
This inspection will be carried out jointly by the provincial government and city and county authorities.
The inspection targets include prepared foods containing raw beef, such as yukhoe bibimbap, and foods using beef patties, such as hamburgers. More than 46 samples will be collected and tested to determine whether they meet microbial safety standards.
The samples will be tested for enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli at the Gyeonggi Institute of Health and Environment. If any samples are found to be non-compliant, administrative measures will be taken in accordance with relevant laws, and a follow-up inspection will be conducted within six months.
