Minister of the Interior nominee Yoon Hojoong reports 2.22 billion won in assets
Minister of the Interior and Safety nominee Yoon Hojoong reported a total of approximately 2.22 billion won in assets under his and his spouse's names.
According to the personnel hearing request submitted on July 4, Yoon reported real estate assets in his own name, including an apartment in Guri, Gyeonggi Province (506 million won), a commercial property in Bucheon (9.534 million won), and a jeonse (long-term lease) right to a building in Guri (50 million won). In his spouse's name, he reported land in Bukgajwa-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (124.2 million won) and a commercial property in Guri, Gyeonggi Province (470 million won).
The nominee registered approximately 100 million won in personal savings and about 20 million won in political funds under his own name. His spouse reported approximately 600 million won in savings and 350 million won in private bonds. The spouse submitted promissory notes indicating that 150 million won was lent to an unidentified individual referred to as Mr. A in two separate transactions, and 200 million won was lent to their son. The son, born in 1989, and the granddaughter, born in 2023, refused disclosure of their assets, citing independent living and other reasons.

Yoon was classified as a level 2 supplementary service member in May 1984, but was exempted from call-up in August 1985 due to a conviction. While attending Seoul National University in June 1985, he was sentenced to 10 months in prison for violating the Act on the Punishment of Violent Acts. In May 1995, he was fined 700,000 won for violating the Road Traffic Act, and in April 2017, he was fined 800,000 won for violating the Public Official Election Act.
