Fire Safety in Apartment Underground Levels, "Geumhwa Patrol Unit Season 2" Launched
Sejong Fire Headquarters Expands Scope of Geumhwa Patrol Unit
Strengthening Fire Prevention Measures in Everyday Life
The Sejong Fire Headquarters announced on July 4 that the "Geumhwa Patrol Unit," which is operated to strengthen fire safety in underground parking lots of apartment complexes, has received a strong response and has expanded its scope of activities starting this month.
According to the Fire Headquarters, Sejong has the highest proportion of residents living in apartment complexes nationwide (87.1%). In response, the Geumhwa Patrol Unit, consisting of two special judicial police officers for fire safety, has been operating to address concerns such as electric vehicle fires in underground levels. From February to June, the Geumhwa Patrol Unit visited 186 apartment complexes in the region at least twice each, identified a total of 137 issues, and completed corrective actions for all of them.
In addition to on-site inspections, the unit also provided education on how to use fire safety facilities and offered consulting services, thereby increasing citizens' awareness of fire safety.
According to a survey conducted by the Geumhwa Patrol Unit among apartment complex managers, 90% of the 161 respondents said the patrol was helpful, and 94% expressed hope that the activities would continue.
As a result, starting this month, Geumhwa Patrol Unit Season 2 has expanded its scope of activities to include fire safety consulting for medium and large commercial facilities and patrols in vulnerable areas. The Fire Headquarters plans to continue expanding customized preventive activities that citizens can directly experience.
