The project is progressing smoothly, with a target completion date set for December 2026.
Severe congestion repeatedly occurs during rush hours in the bottleneck section where the road narrows from four lanes to two. As a result, local residents and workers at nearby industrial complexes experience daily traffic inconveniences, and ongoing complaints have been filed regarding this section.
The project to alleviate congestion in the Seonyu section of Paju-si is currently in the final stages of negotiations for land and property compensation, as well as the relocation of utility poles and other obstructions, including Korea Electric Power Corporation poles. Preparatory work for construction is underway.
Once the road improvement is completed, the traffic flow in the Seonyu section of Local Route 78 is expected to be dramatically improved. In addition to reducing commuting times, the upgraded infrastructure will accommodate the rapidly increasing traffic volume. It is also anticipated to enhance residential conditions and improve accessibility to industrial complexes, thereby contributing to a better living environment.
