Kim Minseok Confirmed as Prime Minister Without People Power Party Participation, Democratic Party Sejong Chapter Issues Statement
"The Beginning of Cooperation for People's Livelihoods,
Politics Must Return to Its Proper Role"
The National Assembly approved the motion to appoint Kim Minseok as Prime Minister nominee on July 3, completing the confirmation process.
On July 3, the Democratic Party of Korea's Sejong City chapter issued a statement, saying that the Lee Jaemyung administration has now established a full-fledged system for state affairs and entered the implementation phase for restoring people's livelihoods and normalizing state governance.
Regarding Prime Minister Kim's strong commitment to being a "dawn Prime Minister" and his pledge to serve as a field-oriented, action-driven Prime Minister focused on people's livelihoods, the chapter stated, "Sejong is the administrative capital and a city where the core functions of the central government are concentrated. Any vacuum in state governance directly leads to stagnation and administrative inefficiency in Sejong. Therefore, the confirmation of the Prime Minister will serve as a major turning point for Sejong's development, including the establishment of the Sejong National Assembly building, expansion of the metropolitan transportation network, and acceleration of balanced development policies."
However, this outcome did not reflect the opinions of the opposition parties. The chapter criticized, "The People Power Party abandoned even the minimum responsibility as a partner in state affairs by refusing to participate in the vote. This is a clear case of dereliction of duty, ignoring the mandate given by the people, and represents a regressive political act that prioritizes political maneuvering over people's livelihoods."
The statement continued, "The opposition parties must now set aside political strife and return to responsible politics by working together to address the national task of developing Sejong City. With the confirmation of the Prime Minister, the Lee Jaemyung administration should accelerate efforts to restore people's livelihoods, and the political community must revive the spirit of cooperation."
