Excellent Cartilage Regeneration Observed in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients
Using Umbilical Cord Blood-Derived Allogeneic Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy "Cartistem"
Seokjung Kim, Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, Catholic University, announced on July 2 that he recently confirmed excellent cartilage regeneration effects in patients with knee osteoarthritis by using the umbilical cord blood-derived allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell therapy "Cartistem." The results of this study were published in the latest issue of the international journal Stem Cell Research & Therapy (Impact Factor 7.1).

View original imageThrough this study, a minimum two-year follow-up of ten patients with moderate to severe degenerative osteoarthritis who underwent both high tibial osteotomy and Cartistem treatment showed that the size of cartilage lesions decreased by an average of more than 97%, and that both quality of life and mental health scores improved significantly.
