The award-winning paper is a joint research project by Professor Jingeol Ju and master's student Minji Yang, titled "Development of Evaluation Technology for Flood Reduction Capacity of Urban Flood Control Facilities." The study was highly praised for presenting criteria to quantitatively assess the flood reduction capabilities of various urban drainage facilities.
In particular, the research attracted academic attention by systematically analyzing urban drainage facilities to clearly identify their flood reduction capacity and by proposing an evaluation standard to help prevent flood damage.
With the frequency and severity of floods increasing due to recent climate change, Professor Ju's team's paper is expected to serve as an important guideline for future flood damage prevention.
Professor Ju stated, "I hope this research will contribute to the development of technologies that reduce flood damage in urban areas," and added, "We will continue to conduct in-depth research to find ways for regions and cities to respond to various climate crises."
