Hongseong County Selected for Carbon-Neutral Safe Village Project Contest
Three Villages, Including Gongri Village in Guhang-myeon, Selected as Finalists
for the "Carbon-Neutral Safe Village Project Utilizing Solar Power" in South Chungcheong Province
Hongseong County in South Chungcheong Province has achieved the result of having three villages within the county selected as finalists in the "Carbon-Neutral Safe Village Project Utilizing Solar Power," a contest organized and promoted by Chungcheongnam-do.
According to the county on July 2, three villages?Munsan Village in Hongdong-myeon, Cheontae 1-ri Village in Janggok-myeon, and Gongri Village in Guhang-myeon?were ultimately chosen as project sites through this contest. As a result, the county will officially launch projects aimed at improving the nighttime environment and preventing safety accidents in rural villages.
Through this contest, a total of 81 million won?27 million won per village?will be invested in these three villages by the end of November. The plan is to install a variety of solar-powered products, including solar streetlights, wall-mounted lights, garden lights, and road signs.
A county official stated, "With the selection of this provincial contest project, we have created an opportunity to realize both carbon neutrality and a safe environment in the three villages." The official added, "We will continue to actively identify and promote safety design projects that residents can truly feel, in order to create a more livable rural environment."
Meanwhile, this contest is a one-year project newly launched by South Chungcheong Province for 2025. It aims to create a safe and pleasant living environment in settlement areas by utilizing eco-friendly lighting infrastructure based on solar power.
