Pyeongtaek City to Launch Focused Reporting Period on Budget Waste and Fraudulent Subsidy Claims Starting July 15
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on July 1 that it will operate a "focused reporting period" for one month, from the 15th of this month to the 15th of next month, to prevent budget waste and eradicate fraudulent receipt of local subsidies.
The targets for reporting include cases of budget waste, where illegal spending of the budget can be corrected, and cases where local subsidies have been received through false applications or fraudulent means. Reports can be submitted through the National Sinmungo or the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission's Clean Portal. The city will also accept reports in person or by mail at the Planning and Budget Division.
Once a report is received, the city will investigate to verify the facts. If fraudulent receipt of subsidies is confirmed, the city will take measures such as recovering the subsidies. In addition, whistleblowers will be rewarded in accordance with relevant regulations.
