Song Eonseok Dismisses Possibility of Collective Leadership System: "Disrupts Party Unity"
"Not Desirable at This Point in Time"
Song Eonseok, floor leader of the People Power Party, drew a clear line regarding the possibility of shifting to a 'collective leadership system' being raised both inside and outside the party, saying, "This is a discussion that disrupts the consolidation of power at a time when we need to concentrate our strength to confront the government and the ruling party."
On July 1, when asked by reporters at the National Assembly about the potential reorganization of the party's leadership structure, Song responded, "There are many questions being raised about whether this is desirable at this point in time."

In the single-leader system, the party leader and the Supreme Council members are elected separately at the party convention. In contrast, under the collective leadership system, the candidate with the most votes in a single election becomes the representative Supreme Council member, while those with the next highest votes become Supreme Council members.
Song dismissed the possibility, stating, "With the party convention just around the corner, it is not appropriate to change the leadership system right now," and added, "It is not something that can be implemented immediately."
